There are Two Framing Styles For a Canvas on a Deep Stretch
Tray frames are designed specifically for canvas framing. Normally there is a gap between the edge of the canvas and the internal edge of the frame. The standard gap is 6mm / 1/4". This gap gives the floating frame effect. If you want the standard 6mm gap, add 6mm to the length and width of your canvas. For example, if your canvas is 300 x 400mm, then insert 312 x 412mm for the dimensions of your canvas. You can have a gap up to 15mm or you can have the frame flush to the canvas. You cannot have glazing or a mount with a tray frame.
Note on Measuring for a frame with no Gap that is Flush to the Canvas. Because of crinkling on the surface of the canvas, for an easy fit, add 3mm in each direction to your canvas measurements. For Example, if your canvas is 300x400mm, then insert 303x403mm for the external measurements of the canvas. We do not recommend not having a gap as you lose the floating effect.
Take Me To Tray Frame Styles
Our Deep Canvas Floating Frame with Shadow Box Design provides you with a large choice of frames. You can select any mount colour and width for the background or have your canvas flush to the frame. With the Shadow Box style, when you want the canvas flush to frame the slip ensures that you do not lose any of the canvas at the edge. If you want a mount on your framed canvas, then you must choose a shadow box framing style.
